10/27/06

I was driving home a couple days ago; very overcast/gloomy-type of day, when I noticed how brilliant the leaves looked on all the trees (okay, I noticed earlier but for some reason I noticed it even more this day). I went home, grabbed my camera and had fun shooting pictures of some beautiful trees and the changing color. The color of the leaves really stood out against the grayish background of the sky.

I love this time of year; the crispness of the air, that "very rare" rain that we got once in a while, and of course the beautiful scenery that we have here in the Pacific Northwest.

Here are a few pictures from that day-

I was cleaning up my harddrive a little (trying to get pictures in the right folders and all organized) today and ran across the following pictures which I scanned almost a year ago. Not the best scanner but I think they turned out okay. These were all taken back in Ukraine -

This is one of my favorites. My dad took this picture of my Mom, my two brothers and me cleaning corn. That's my brother (Igor) on the right with his stomach and tongue sticking out. Pavel is in the middle and I'm on the left

This was taken in a studio in Ukraine in 1991, right before we left for America (my dad was a good looking man, if I say so myself)

I think my dad took this picture as well. My brother is in the carriage and I'm standing. That crossed-leg thing...still doing it today

Here are a few pictures I took a couple months ago at the wedding of Ilona and Yuriy. They're both very awesome people, may God bless them richly in all aspects of their life. They also live in a very beautiful home just down the street from me; we're practically neighbors.

Well it's been a very busy couple a weeks but they were well worth it. I was able to finish up the last few things on the site and get it on-line. Check it out - Yuriy Manchik Photography. Sorry for the long load time, I'm trying to figure out how to make it load faster, an improved version will be up soon.

I also entered a piece of my work in a photography contest going on at the Ravenna Gallery, we'll see how that goes, I'll keep you updated. I also had a good talk with the owner, Julia, about galleries, submissions, consignments, etc; I always wanted to put some of my work in galleries and coffee shops around Seattle but I had no idea on how to go about it. Now that I've been schooled in Showcasing Your Work 101, I think I'm going to be doing a lot more of it.

This is the piece I entered into the Gallery-
